God is asking us to step out in faith and to include Him where it is certain that unless He joins us in our goal that it will certainly be a failure. Would we allow Him the opportunity to use us through His power to do exceedingly abundantly beyond anything that I could ask or imagine?
God wants to challenge us to allow Him to use us in supernatural ways. He wants us to get out of the boat and be stretched in our faith to do something supernatural with God. In our giving that may even mean ADDING A ZERO. ''With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'' ~ Matthew 19:26 With this “Add a Zero” faith challenge you have to involve God.
This Add a Zero challenge was presented to a large group of businesspeople and spouses in Austin, Texas which Harry and Cici Scott, a commercial real estate investor and his wife, hosted. The event focused on planting churches in Ethiopia through the Global Alliance of Church Multiplication. Harry and Cici had pledged to plant 100 Ethiopian churches but felt called by God to plant 1000 churches when challenged with ADDING A ZERO. As the host couple later reported, “When we were led to add a zero, we honestly thought that there was a very real chance that this could be a legacy ministry that our children would need to finish. Now it seems that God wants to advance this much more quickly. God has led us to “add another zero” and trust Him with 10,000 churches. One attendee gave $50,000 that first night but later decided that God wanted him to add a zero and donated $500,000.”
Below is Harry’s report of 2025:
“God’s specific faithfulness in His answers to prayer have startled me. You will notice that we asked for you to pray for God to plant an additional 1,050 churches in 2025. An additional 1,239 churches were indeed planted bringing the total to 6,479 with 166,037 Ethiopians attending. More importantly another 24,751 souls have been saved to glorify God for eternity! I have shared several times in the past that success is not always determined by numbers. I also shared about the uniquely western perspective on what success and blessing looks like vs what abiding in God looks like and allowing Him to be the fruit bearer. He is indeed the one granting fruit and all I can attest to is that He very clearly called us to trust him for 10,000 churches in Ethiopia and the correlating souls, and He seems intent to do that and is granting us this privilege to partner with Him! I am simply overwhelmed as I write this. Take a moment to let this sink in and then take a moment to thank God.
God is the reason for the numbers being what they are, but from what I can explain, we have been able to establish 300 teaching centers. That is giving us the capacity to seek, train and support more church planters.
Another very humbling and encouraging story – based on what God has done through this team, another family has started a church planting ministry in Indonesia and is already seen over 300 churches planted!!!”
May we all please God and involve Him in our being good stewards of His entrusted money to gain maximum eternal significance; maybe even “adding a zero”.
