Recently I attended the Celebration of Life memorial service for Anet Jackson. She and her husband, Jerry Jackson, founded the worldwide ministry, Faith Comes By Hearing, for which my family has been involved for years. Anet has been used in travels around the world to record the dramatized Word of God in over 2400 languages. In fact, Anet was named Annette throughout her life until God put it on her heart to describe her ministry by changing her name to “A Net” (A fisherman catching fish for the Lord).

Prior to her going Home to Heaven she recorded a video which was shown at the service. It was a God Story that happened in their early years of marriage with 4 kids, prior to the founding of FCBH.

Jerry was an unbeliever when they married but accepted Christ after an intensive dive in into the Bible. Anet accused Jerry about being “weird” in his developing faith.

On the way to church one Sunday, she told him that after church they needed to buy milk for their 4 kids with the remaining $3 that they had. (They were very poor.) In church she reminded Jerry twice more that they needed to buy milk for the kids with their remaining $3. The pastor made a plea for extra funds for God’s work. As the collection basket was passed, she stared at Jerry with a harsh look as he reached in his pocket and dropped their $3 into the basket. Anet was livid and very angry. After church she angrily accused Jerry of being “stupid”.  Who could need that money more than our family?

When they got home, she wanted to demonstrate his foolishness by showing him an empty refrigerator except for 2 old carrots. She slung open the door and said, “Jerry, look what you have done.” However, instead of being empty, it was stacked full of pint size milk cartons.

The milkman for their community had ordered too many for his Sunday deliveries to the schools in the area. He said to himself that it would not be wise to throw away milk that someone could use. It was obvious that God had put it in his mind that this house that he was driving by had 4 kids that needed milk. He stopped and knocked. No one answered so he opened the unlocked door and proceeded to the empty refrigerator. Taking at least an hour, he filled the refrigerator with his leftover milk cartons.

God was teaching Anet a strong lesson about faith for which Jerry was already practicing.  Faith is simply believing and trusting God; it is getting Him involved and depending on Him for the results.
