The Lord has allowed me to have many adventures in my walk with HIM.
One that is still so sharp in my mind was my going with Dr. Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, to Moscow Russia when the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Power in Eastern Europe collapsed and access to Russia opened up.
It was the Wild West when we arrived. We thought we had hotel rooms, and everything was set up but that was not the case. Intourist, a Russian travel agency, in Moscow would not honor our hotel reservations and we ended up staying in the Moscow Baptist Church for 4 days. Dr Bright got the pastor's couch and the rest of us slept on the church floor. Our breakfast was a green liquid with boiled sausages. By God's grace, Dr Bright traveled with a lot of snack food, so we had apples and nuts to go with it.
The big event took place on Red Square adjacent to the Kremlin. We had the first Easter service there in over 70 years. We did not ask permission; prayed like crazy, and just did it. We had a choir and an interpreter with Dr. Bright giving the message. The crowd was incredible listening to Bill's message. I am sure that God moved mightily that day.
It was incredible that I, coming from a small town in Illinois, was in Moscow doing the first Easter service after Communism fell.
A wonderful God Story and still a highlight of my life.
