This new shoeleatherfaith.com series will use the book, “Journey Through the Bible and Your Story”, (available on Amazon books later this summer) as an introduction to major biblical characters and themes in chronological order, providing a clearer picture of history, from the world's creation to the end times. Whether you approach the Bible with strong faith or curiosity, you are invited to explore its living and powerful message—one that is essential for navigating this complex and often challenging world.
During these weekly articles we will be taking short excerpts from this book for our journey together. This journey most definitely includes your story which started many centuries before you were born and will continue through eternity.
All of us should be interested and somewhat knowledgeable of the Bible since it is the best-selling publication of all times with over 5 billion copies sold and has been translated in most languages in the world.
The Word of God, the Bible, is a masterpiece. It was written over the course of 1,500+ years, roughly between 1450 BC to 95 AD, by as many as 40+ writers. It was originally written in three main languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek. It contains 66 books which includes 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books which are sacred in Christianity, and in Judaism, Samaritanism, Islam, the Baha’i Faith, and other Abrahamic religions. Christians and Jews have been called "people of the Book" throughout history. Both Judaism and Christianity are based on the Bible.
The Bible is the most powerful tool that we have to help us in our daily lives. Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
I invite every person with faith in God or no faith to join us on this journey. The Bible includes “Your Story”. Each one of us should be intrigued by that fact.
This journey will be one of the most wondrous you have ever been on.
Regardless of your current beliefs about the existence or nonexistence of God or your Christianity or another religion or no religion, I challenge you to be open minded as we take a journey through this best-selling publication of all time.
The greatest challenge to our culture today is living in a world filled with technology and information, yet in the midst of all that, our being willing to focus on the crucial things that matter the most and are vitally important to us personally.
We all have a physical body that very few of us understand its intricate functions and yet it is vital to our daily temporal existence. Whether you accept it or not, there is a spiritual component that is vital to our daily and eternal existence that hopefully our journey together in this series will begin to “shed some light”.
The Bible has provided a new and wonderful story of my personal and eternal existence, as it has done or will do for you.
